Labri Giotto

LABRI GIOTTO(real name:Lamprini Gioti )was born in Athens (1982). She graduated from the Experimental Musical High school & Lyceum of Pallini (1999). She has been honored with Special Distinction by the Greek Ministry of Education & Religious Affairs, in a competition of musical composition with participants from all over Greece(1999). In May of 2003, she received her Diploma in Piano from the National Conservatory of Athens with High Distinction and Merit, having studied with the Russian Professor Alexei Mirosnikov. In September of 2003, she received piano consultation lessons, with the world famous pianist Yonty Solomon, Professor in the Royal College and Trinity College of London. She started singing from the age of 7, but the last 5 years, she sings professionally. From 2000 on ,she has been attending singing lessons, phonetics and breathing techniques, with various professors studying different singing styles(jazz, folk& musical theater).In June of 2006, she received her Diploma in Modern Singing with High Distinction and Merit, under the guidance of Roza Atanaskovitch- Kokkali. In June 2005, she graduated from the American College of Greece (Deree College),from which she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Music, with High Distinction, as well as the College’s Special Award for Artistic Achievement. She was also the Coordinator of Activities for the Deree College Music Society for two years. From 2002, she worked as a Music teacher for children, in the Summer Camp for Fine Arts of the College. In addition, she was an assistant to Professor Tatiana Papageorgiou, Head of the Music Department (Deree College) and renowned pianist, as well as to Choreographer Cindy Trent, Dance instructor and Coordinator at the Dance Department of the College, from whom she has received dance courses, for 3 years. (jazz - tap dance and body, awareness& movement, as well).In 2001,she participated as a soloist in the Musical America on Broadway, which was performed in the American College of Greece(Pierce College Theater). She has given concerts in the Lycabettus Theatre of Athens, in the Cinema-Theatre Pallas(Athens), in the Public theatre of Piraeus, in the American College of Greece(over 40 concerts, as a soloist or member of ensembles), in the Athens College, in the Athens Concert Hall, in the Old Parliament, in AULA(Philosophic Faculty- University of Athens), in the Athens Club, in several halls for the Rotary Club of Athens, in the City Halls of Kifissia and Neo Psychiko, in the Iakovateios Library of Lixouri(for charity purposes) in Kefalonia, and in the Concert Hall Parnassos, among other places. From 2001, she has taken part as a soloist in concerts for the Council of Auditors Judges of Greece, as well as with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Lixouri in Kefalonia. In 2006-2007, she gave several concerts in the PAC of the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance, as well as at Bewley's Cafe Theatre in Dublin. Since 1996, she has taken part in concerts of the Greek-Irish Society, in which she is member. In 1998, she sang with the worldwide famous Irish player, Tomas O Cannain who plays the Uileann pipe, as well as with the band ¨Keltes¨ (Celtoi). In December 2004 and January 2005, she sang live in broadcastings of the Radio Station of the Greek Orthodox Church and in January 2005, she made a tribute recital for the Greek renowned legendary singer, Danae Stratigopoulou- Halkiadaki, whom she met as well. In June 2007, she received her Masters in Ethnomusicology from the University of Limerick-Irish World Academy of Music and Dance, in Ireland. Her specialization was “Sean Nos singing style in the West Cork Gaeltacht”. Since October 2006, she teaches piano and singing at the Croagh School of Music. Currently she specializes in jazz and contemporary/electronic music. Since 2007,she has given workshops in Greek traditional and Byzantine music in the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance,MA Chant and Ritual Song and MA Ethnomusicology. At the moment she is getting trained as an offender profiler, and she is planning further Phd studies in Ethnomusicology and the vocal techniques of Tibet.
